The fine print
Terms & conditions
Plain terms for how splits, credits and responsibility work on Blend. By collaborating on a song you agree to the points below.
Publishing locks the splits
When the Head of Song publishes a track, the split sheet becomes final. The percentages agreed on each section — music, chorus, verses, pre-chorus and middle 8 — are fixed at that moment and can’t be changed afterwards.
You’re told when you make the cut
Every writer, singer and producer is notified the moment their lyrics, vocal or music is accepted onto a song. Nothing is locked in without letting you know first.
You accept your split
Before a section is final, each person named on it agrees to their share. A part only counts toward the finished song once its contributors have accepted the proposed split. You cannot ask for more than the section you wrote is worth as a percentage — for example, each chorus is worth 25%, so everyone credited on a chorus shares that 25% between them.
Everyone gets the finished song
Once the splits are accepted and the track is published, every person credited on the song receives a copy of the finished master for their records and a copy of the agreement between writers.
You own your use of AI
If you use AI for any part of your contribution — lyrics, melody, vocals or production — you must declare it and you accept sole responsibility for that use. If any legal claim or court case arises from your use of AI, you are responsible for defending it and for any resulting liability. That responsibility rests with you alone and does not fall on any of the other co-writers, the Head of Song, or Blend.
No music from Blend feeds AI
No music created on this site is to be used in any AI program. Anyone who breaks this rule will be banned from the site and will be held solely liable for any legal problems that occur. Blend is not responsible for the breaking of these rules.
Blend publishes free‑agent songs
If you don’t have a publishing deal, then when a song you contributed to is published on Blend you grant Blend a publishing interest in your share: 20% of gross publishing income received, for 5 years from the publish date, unless you are currently published. In return, Blend registers the song, collects and accounts your royalties through our publishing administration partner, and places the song in the Listening Room where A‑R and management browse for songs to cut. Placement gives your song the chance to be heard — it doesn’t guarantee it will be. Blend’s interest follows the song, not the placement: if you or anyone else places a song developed on Blend — through your own contacts, outside the Listening Room, or anywhere else — the terms don’t change, and the song stays published by Blend for the full 5 years. Our interest only works one way: we take 20% of income actually received, so if your song makes nothing you owe nothing, and after 5 years all rights revert to you automatically. If you’re signed to a publisher this clause doesn’t apply — your share stays entirely with you and your publisher; it is your responsibility to tell your publisher about songs you write on Blend, as Blend does not notify publishers on your behalf. On songs with both signed and free‑agent writers, Blend’s interest applies only to the free‑agent shares.
You accept these terms inside Blend, once, before you can be credited on a published song. You can withdraw that acceptance at any time from the same page.
